Get a Manufacturing QuoteThe Risks of Making Things
Manufacturing is the backbone of the economy, but it also carries some of the heaviest liability risks. A single defect in a $5 part can lead to a million-dollar lawsuit or a catastrophic recall.
At River East Insurance, we understand that a machine shop in Manchester faces different risks than a food packager in South Windsor. We don't just sell you a policy; we analyze your supply chain, your quality control processes, and your end-users.
We build policies that protect your expensive machinery, your raw materials, and your business's reputation if something goes wrong down the line.

Critical Coverage for Industry
Product Liability
Your biggest threat. It protects you if a product you made (or a part you supplied) causes bodily injury or property damage to a third party.
- Design Defect Coverage
- Manufacturing Defect Coverage
- Global Jurisdiction Options
Product Recall Expense
If a batch is bad, getting it back is expensive. This covers the costs of notification, shipping, disposal, and crisis management to save your brand.
- Voluntary & Involuntary Recalls
- Lost Profit Replacement
- Consultant Costs
Equipment Breakdown
Standard property insurance covers fire and theft, but not if your CNC machine seizes up or a boiler explodes. This pays for repairs and lost income.
- Mechanical Failure
- Electrical Arcing
- Spoilage (for Food Processors)
Common Manufacturing Questions
Does my policy cover molds and dies?
Often, these are excluded or have low limits. We can add a "Patterns, Dies, and Molds" floater to cover these expensive assets, whether they are at your shop or a third-party site.
I import parts from overseas. Am I liable?
Yes. If you import a part and sell it in the US, the courts often view you as the "Manufacturer" for liability purposes. You need robust Product Liability to cover this.
What happens if a raw material supplier fails?
We can add "Contingent Business Interruption" coverage. This pays your lost income if a key supplier has a fire and can't send you the materials you need to operate.
Is Workers' Comp expensive for factories?
It can be. We help you implement safety programs and "Return to Work" protocols that can lower your Experience Mod factor, directly reducing your premium.
